Can breathing be improved at the same time?
It can, when the cause is in the structure of the nose — the septum, the valves, a narrow inlet or the turbinates. Function and appearance are then planned in the same procedure.
When rhinoplasty breathes with you
If the septum stands in the way, if the internal or external valve is narrow, or if the turbinates close the passage, that can be resolved under the same anaesthetic as the shape. One recovery, not two. That is called rhinoseptoplasty when both the septum and the outer nose are touched.
An aesthetic request must not close the nose. If the plan lowers the bridge more than ventilation will carry, the plan is changed or the procedure is not done. That is why the examination includes endoscopy, not only a photograph.
When rhinoplasty alone does not help
Allergy, a long-used spray and inflammation of the lining close the nose even when the structure is orderly. The procedure changes anatomy, not the lining. If the main problem is the lining or a sinus, that is treated first — or the procedure is not done.
A crooked pyramid is rarely “only the septum”. The outer axis and the inner septum are often corrected together, otherwise air still breaks against a crooked geometry. If the problem is only the septum, the outer nose is not touched. That is said openly, not as a hidden add-on in theatre.
What to bring to the examination
A clear description: at night, on exertion, one-sided or both sides, since when. An earlier CT scan if you have one. A list of medicines, especially vasoconstrictors in a spray. A long-used spray can close the nose by itself — that must be separated from the anatomy before the procedure.
Functional rhinoplasty in Zagreb is not “septoplasty plus a little shape”. It enters when breathing depends on the outer structures or when there is also a request for another shape. The cost outline follows the scope — functional from 4500 EUR — not the name “septum operation”.
