Will the nose look operated on?
The aim is not a nose that announces the procedure. The aim is a nose that sits in the face — forehead, lip and chin — not a nose from someone else’s photograph or a filter.
What people mean by “operated on”
They usually mean a narrow, overly scooped bridge, a pointed tip, a visible incision on the columella, or a profile that looks taken from another face. That is not a necessary outcome of rhinoplasty. It is the outcome when the plan follows a model, not the anatomy.
A nose that “looks operated on” is often a nose narrowed more than the face will carry, or a tip lifted out of relation to the lip. At the examination that is named before an appointment, not as a surprise after the splint comes off.
What determines the look
Skin, the strength of the cartilage and the width of the face decide how much may be touched. Thin skin shows every stitch. Thick skin hides a small change of the tip. If the bridge is lowered more than the middle vault will carry, the nose can look empty and breathe worse.
That is why the plan is drawn from your nose, not from someone else’s result. At the examination the surgeon says what is feasible on your anatomy, and what would look arranged. If the wish leads to a nose that does not belong to the face, the examination stops there.
What the procedure does not change
The skin remains yours. Asymmetry of the face does not disappear because the nose is ordered. Breathing improves only if the cause is in the structure of the nose. The before-and-after gallery shows real cases — another nose, another skin, another outcome.
In the first weeks the nose is swollen and is not final. Whoever in the sixth week asks whether it “looks operated on” is asking about swelling. The final shape comes over months, at the tip often up to a year. You hear the exact plan at the consultation.

Is the incision on the columella visible?
An open approach adds a short incision on the skin bridge between the nostrils. It fades and in most people later is hard to see from close range. A closed approach leaves the incisions inside. The choice depends on the case, not on fashion.
Does the look of the nose change through the first year?
Yes. Swelling, especially at the tip, settles over months. Judging whether it “looks operated on” in the first month is a judgement of swelling. The final shape comes later.
