Common question

When can I return to work?

Desk work often resumes after the splint is removed, if the job does not require strain or impact. Physical work, the gym and contact wait longer.

The office and work in front of people

The splint usually stays 7 to 12 days. After it comes off the nose is still swollen. A desk rhythm is often possible then, if you do not need glasses on the bridge and if the swelling does not bother you in front of clients. Contact lenses are usually allowed earlier than a frame.

If you work in front of a camera or with clients at close range, allow that other people’s first impression will still follow you for some time after you return. That is not a reason for another week in the dark. It is a reason not to draw the calendar from a forum.

Physical work, sport, flying

Walking is useful early. Running and cycling often from the third or fourth week. A gym with load, contact and martial arts wait 3 to 6 months. Physical work follows the same strain — not the date the splint comes off.

A flight is not planned for the third day. Short flights often after the first review, if healing is orderly. A longer flight and cabin dryness are arranged individually, especially if you are coming from abroad.

What the review confirms

Exact instructions — medicines, rinsing, when you may go to work — are given in writing after the procedure. This page is an orientation, not a substitute for that sheet. Revision heals more slowly; if the procedure was a revision, allow for longer swelling of the tip.

The examination costs 110 EUR. Primary from 4500 EUR, revision from 6500 EUR. If you compare the cost with time out of rhythm, see also fees and recovery. The next step is the consultation, not a date in the calendar from a message.

More about returning

When may I go to the gym and fly?

Walking early. Running often from the third or fourth week. Load and contact 3–6 months. A flight not on the third day — short flights often after the first review.

What if I need glasses at work?

Glasses must not sit on a freshly changed bridge. Contact lenses are usually allowed earlier. A light frame later, with care, when the surgeon says.
