What nose correction is
The procedure may involve the bridge, tip, base, nostrils, nasal axis and internal structures — septum, valves and turbinates — depending on the anatomy and what the examination shows is feasible.
There is no single method for every nose. The plan is drawn from skin, cartilage, bone, breathing and the relation to forehead, lip and chin.
Candidates
A good candidate has a clear anatomical problem or a wish that fits the tissue, completed growth and realistic expectations. If the main reason is someone else’s nose from a photograph or a filter, the examination should separate that from the anatomy.
- dissatisfaction with shape, a hump, the tip, width or asymmetry
- impaired breathing due to the septum, valve or a narrow pyramid
- a previously operated nose (revision)
- change after injury
The procedure
Surgery is done under general anaesthesia. Duration depends on the scope: a primary procedure, a functional correction or a revision are not the same plan.
An open or closed approach is chosen from the anatomy. Piezo, preservation or reconstruction of the bridge are not “styles”, but a response to the tissue in front of the surgeon.
Recovery
In the first days expect swelling and possible bruising. The external splint is removed at the agreed time. The tip may stay firmer for months; the final shape, especially of the tip, is assessed over a longer period.
Detailed stages, glasses, return to work and sport are described on the recovery page.
Most common reasons for coming
- Primary rhinoplasty First nasal surgery for the face and function.
- Functional rhinoplasty Breathing, valve and nasal airway structure.
- Septorhinoplasty Septum and outer shape in the same procedure.
- Revision rhinoplasty A previously operated nose, scar and remaining tissue.
- Piezo rhinoplasty Ultrasonic work on bone when the plan requires it.
- Preservation rhinoplasty Lowering the bridge while preserving dorsal structure when anatomy allows.
- Rib graft rhinoplasty When more cartilage is needed for reconstruction.
- Patients from abroad Video first, examination and surgery in Zagreb.
Preparation for the examination and procedure
- The examination includes discussion, external analysis, assessment of breathing and standard photographs; endoscopy when indicated.
- Bring findings, a CT if you have one, older photographs for revision or injury, and a list of previous nasal procedures.
- Before surgery the required laboratory work and instructions on medicines that affect bleeding are arranged. The exact list follows once the plan is confirmed.
- Smoking, alcohol and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (e.g. with acetylsalicylic acid) are considered in preparation because they affect healing and bleeding.
Fees
The examination is paid separately. Approximate ranges for procedures and what the package includes — anaesthesia, the stay on the day of surgery, agreed early reviews — are on the fees page. The exact cost outline is given after the examination for your plan. Rhinoplasty fees →
Common questions about nose correction
Is nose correction the same as rhinoplasty?
Yes. Nose correction is the usual name for rhinoplasty — an aesthetic and/or functional change to the nose.
Is breathing addressed in the same procedure?
It can be, when the cause is in the structure of the nose. Shape and breathing are assessed together; endoscopy is part of the examination when needed.
How long is recovery?
A return to everyday activities is often possible within about a week to ten days, with limits. The final shape, especially of the tip, comes over months.
Where is the examination?
The private examination, photographs and cost outline are at QMC in Zagreb. Hospital work is at KBC Zagreb.
